"My wife and I have been blessed to visit Israel and tour the land of the Bible on numerous occasions over the years. It’s an immeasurably rewarding experience to visit the places where the events of the Bible took place.

But what about the lands outside of Israel where events of biblical significance took place? “I want to go to Greece,” my wife told me. “You should talk to Teri about doing a tour of Greece.” Why Greece? Well, Greece is the land where numerous events from the book of Acts took place. Entire books of the Bible, like the letters to the Corinthians, Thessalonians, and Philippians were written to church communities in the country of Greece.

In 2023 and again in 2024 I had the privilege to go on a Life Journey tour to the country of Greece. The first year, we traced the footsteps of Paul in chronological order, starting in Philippi and working our way south eventually to Corinth. The following year we visited the same biblical sites, but rather than seeing them in chronological order, we visited them in the order most conducive to an efficient travel itinerary. Both tours were rewarding experiences!

For people who have visited Israel, one major difference about Teri’s Greece tours is that the Greece tours include much more time for relaxation. In Israel, there’s so much to see and do in such a small place, it can be almost overwhelming. And because you want to see everything you can in the time that you’re there, in Israel, there’s not much time for relaxation and leisure. Not so in Greece! In Greece, the trip will feel more like a vacation. I found this refreshing.

Greece, like Israel, is a country with a rich and ancient history. So, in addition to the biblically relevant sites – like the prison where Paul was kept in Philippi, the hill on which he preached a sermon to the Athenians in Acts 18 – we also got to see the ruins of ancient civilizations, some dating to the time of Abraham!

Greece is a very scenic country. As an avid hiker, I was excited to find numerous opportunities to go on nature hikes in places of stunning natural beauty: from the wonders of Meteora to the volcanoes and picturesque cliffs of Santorini, if you like the outdoors, you’ll love Greece! On Santorini in particular, there’s a wide variety of activities to enjoy. Some of our group rented a yacht and went snorkeling. Others rented ATVs and explored the island on their own.

My wife and I enjoyed the Greek cuisine. The food is wonderful, and the restaurants offered a wide variety of options.

If you’re looking for a trip that will compliment your visits to the Holy Land, if you have an interest in ancient history, or if you just want to visit a beautiful corner of Europe, I heartily recommend touring the country of Greece with Life Journey Tours!"
